Waxing Tips

To get the best results, your hair should be at least ¼” long. This takes the average person 1 to 2 weeks. After the first wax, as long as you do not shave between services, you’ll find the second wax to be more comfortable.

There can be several reasons for this. If you are using skin care products that contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids of any kind, these can cause the skin to lift while waxing. Aggressive exfoliation of the skin, such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels, can be a problem too. Prescription medications such as antibiotics, Accutane, or topical ointments such as Retin-A or Renova can cause also the skin to thin and lift while being waxed. Other products to keep in mind are Strivectin, Proactiv, Avita and Avage. Keep in mind that it’s difficult to predict how skin will react, no matter how many precautions are taken.

If you are a female client, schedule your waxing service the first two weeks after your cycle. Your sensitivity level is a lot less during this time. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these can stimulate, making you more sensitive and may increases the redness after waxing. Pregnancy also increases sensitivity.

For most people it takes up to 1/2 hour for any redness to subside. After waxing, do not tan, exercise, or jump in chlorinated water for at least 24 hours. Avoid perfumes, scrubs, or other irritants the day of the waxing service. If you’re a bride or attending a special occasion, I recommend receiving waxing services a month before your special day to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, schedule your next wax a day or two prior to your event.

There is some discomfort involved, however most women find it quite tolerable. Our staffs work quickly, and becaue of our proprietary technique, the pain is greatly minimized.

To achieve the best result possible, 1 to 2 weeks is recommended, since each of the 3 hair growth cycles requires 1 to 1 1/2 weeks to grow.

If you’ve been shaving, there may be a transition period. It generally requires 2-3 consistent waxes at a 4 to 6 week interval to achieve optimal results. Optimal results include 3 to 4 weeks of hairlessness, hair coming in more softly, and reduction in hair growth. If you have not shaved, these results may be attanined more quickly.

No.

We do not advise shaving between appointments. Shaving just once may reverse all that is gained from waxing.

Gently exfoliating every day in the shower with a dry brush helps to keep the skin surface free from cellular buildup, which can trap hair. We also carry Legole ingrown lotion and Folisan ingrown lotion which helps prevent ingrowns and lightens skin from any discoloration they may cause. These are available at all of our locations.
We do accept walk-ins, however we recommend scheduling in advance to avoid and extended wait. Please be aware that we book our waxing appointments in 15 minute intervals. Please be early or on time to avoid losing your appointment. If you are unable to keep an appointment, we request a call 24 hours prior to your appointment. We do have a 24 hour cancellation policy in place. You may inquire as to the details of this policy with any of our locations.
